On Monday, a decision will be made on joint purchases of ammunition for Ukraine. EU foreign ministers should adopt a three-stage plan to strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will benefit, including Polish companies.
The three-stage plan to strengthen the Ukrainian army, which EU foreign ministers will discuss on Monday, involves the supply of ammunition from their own warehouses, joint purchases and the strengthening of the Ukrainian defense industry. In order for the plan to be approved, the consent of two more countries, Italy and the Netherlands, is required. For procedural reasons, they were unable to do so during Sunday’s meeting of the EU ambassadors.
Polish companies will receive
According to RMF FM, Poland will gladly join the plan for joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine. Polish defense companies can also benefit from this, for example. those that produce 155 mm ammunition for the Ukrainian army.
According to radio RMF, the Polish company “Dezamet”, which produces just such ammunition, will be visited by European Commissioner for Industry Thierry Breton. The company was included in the list of 15 companies that could potentially produce ammunition for the needs of the Ukrainian army. The first orders can be placed in May.
Billions for ammunition
The European Union wants to allocate 2 billion euros for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine, half of which will be used to reimburse the costs of transferring ammunition from the community’s own warehouses. The other half will go to purchases under new contracts.
At the end of the week, the EU summit will begin, during which the leaders of the EU countries will talk about a further increase in the Peace Fund by 3.5 billion euros. From this fund, the community wants to cover the costs of further deliveries of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
