Mariusz Blaszczak approved a contract for the supply of 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks.
The Minister of National Defense approved the contract for the supply of American tanks M1A1 Abrams. 116 machines of this type will be delivered to Poland. The document was signed on January 4 at the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade in Wesola. – This is evidence of strengthening cooperation with the United States – said the head of the Ministry of Defense.
– Thank you for the Polish-American cooperation. Our tankers are already training on Abrams tanks in Poland. Thanks for the strong military cooperation. Our cooperation serves Poland and the entire eastern flank - Mariusz Blaszczak added.
Abrams tanks and technical vehicles
The package ordered from the United States will include 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks, mobile container workshops for the repair of weapons, technical vehicles, a stock of spare and consumable parts, as well as diagnostic equipment. The Americans will also prepare a training package for instructors, crews and technical staff.
– The contract also provides for the purchase of equipment and a package of logistics support. 116 tanks - the first units this year. This is our joint Polish-American success - Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said during the signing of the document.
Abrams for Poland for US$1.4 billion
The head of the Defense Ministry also said that the total value of the contract is about $1.4 billion net, of which almost $200 million will be covered by the American side as part of the aid provided to Poland.
- We strengthen the Polish Army, we strengthen the armored fist of the army. This is a strong strengthening of the army and a strong element of deterring the aggressor. Already this year, the first copies will go to the Polish Army - said the head of the Ministry of Defense.
