The concession for the section of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow expires in 2027; we would like this section to be free for drivers, said Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk.
The head of the infrastructure ministry was asked on Thursday in Polsat News if the government wants to introduce additional tolls on existing highways. He assured that there are no such plans at the existing sites.
He added that he hoped for the abolition of tolls on the section of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow and recalled that the concession for the use of this motorway ends in 2027.
– I am convinced (…) that this motorway will again become a motorway operated by GDDKiA and we would like this section between Katowice and Krakow to be a free motorway section, he said.
The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure added that this route is planned to be expanded with an additional lane in each direction. This will allow accumulating traffic, collecting it from parallel roads (up to A4 - ed.), where there are huge communication problems, - he pointed out.
The government does not abandon the plan to expand the A2 motorway
Yesterday we reported that plans to expand the A2 motorway between Lodz and Warsaw remain in place, in particular, the construction of one additional lane between the interchanges Lodz Polnots (intersection with A1) and Konotopa.
Doubts are justified, because five years have passed since the announcement of the extension, and the tender for construction has not yet been announced.
