In 2023, the ZUS contribution for entrepreneurs will increase by 17%, i.e. by approximately PLN 200, reaching approximately PLN 1.4 thousand. zloty. In addition, entrepreneurs must pay health insurance premiums. Thus, they will transfer more than PLN 1.7 thousand to the ZUS account every month. złoty, regardless of whether they had any income. This is the highest increase in premiums in history.
Small businesses and individual entrepreneurs are disappearing. Since the beginning of the year, 140,000 companies have closed in Poland. Such rates were not even during the pandemic. Unfortunately, in the coming months, this phenomenon may maintain its pace and even intensify. One can guess the reasons for not running their own business: prices for products and services used by entrepreneurs in their work are rising, energy and gas are becoming more expensive, and customers are more closely monitoring every zloty and refuse services that they cannot afford. not needed for them. The market is shrinking, uncertainty is growing.
The fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to earn a living does not interest the Social Security Service, which relies on the regular payment of monthly pension contributions. From January it will be even more expensive. Today, entrepreneurs transfer about PLN 1,200 per month to their ZUS account, and from next year there will be more than PLN 1,418.48.
The average salary of full-time employees increases, entrepreneurs will get what they can afford
What is the reason for this increase? From the average monthly wage in a market economy. In the draft budget for 2023, the government assumed that it would amount to PLN 6,935 gross, which would lead to a record high increase in ZUS contributions for entrepreneurs. The basis for calculating the amount of contributions is 60 percent. estimated average salary. In 2023, it will amount to PLN 4,161.
This is how awards will change in 2023
Premium 2022 2023
Pension contribution PLN 693.58 PLN 812.23
Disability pension contributions PLN 284.26 PLN 332.88
Sickness premium PLN 87.05 PLN 101.94
Insurance premium PLN 59.34 PLN 69.49
Labor fund PLN 87.05 PLN 101.94
The sickness contribution is voluntary. If the entrepreneur decides not to pay, he will transfer PLN 1,316.54 to the ZUS account. The costs incurred by the self-employed do not stop there: to the above amounts should be added health insurance premiums, the amount of which, after the entry into force of the Polish Deal, depends mainly on the chosen form of taxation. So its size will be determined by each entrepreneur individually.
The rulers are certainly aware that the number of private enterprises that play an important role in the blood supply of the Polish economy is declining. Their loss will not be indifferent to her - tax revenues will fall, perhaps there will be more unemployed. Of course, the way to stop them from existing is to reduce the premiums they pay no matter how much income they earn, even in the worst months when there is no income, they must pay premiums in full. In the absence of payment, ZUS proceeds quickly with execution.
SME Ombudsman proposes voluntary ZUS
Ombudsman for small and medium-sized businesses Adam Abramovich presented his proposal to fix the problem. In his speech at the opening of the 12th European Congress, he recalled that the SME sector, in dialogue with the government, had already achieved the introduction of a maximum electricity price of PLN 785 per MWh, applied retroactively from 24 February this year. and is waiting for the announcement - also for this sector - of the maximum price for gaseous fuels.
“We also hope that the government will take our demands into account when it comes to simplifications. An economic recession is coming and it is imperative to make changes to the legislation that will allow companies to survive a difficult period. One of the most important postulates of the Ombudsman for SMEs and Entrepreneurs, united in the Ombudsman’s Council, is the voluntariness of ZUS for entrepreneurs, Abramovich recalled.
Health insurance will remain mandatory.
