With the tightening of road legislation and tariffs, the possibility of accruing points in retraining courses has disappeared. Such an opportunity will appear again, but everything will look very different. Retraining courses will return and become mandatory for drivers who exceed the demerit points limit.
Rzeczpospolita widely reports on new courses of re-education. As we read, the new regulation governing their case is missing only the signature of the Minister of Infrastructure. The new law will enter into force with the announcement of the head of the Ministry of Digital Development (at the same time, the resolution will also come into force).
According to the publication, the new retraining courses will be different from the old ones. Recall that they cost PLN 350 and lasted 6 hours, and these were courses for which penalty points were awarded. At the same time, new ones will cost 500 zlotys (although it was even about 2000 zlotys).
Much longer and more detailed
Contrary to earlier information, the new courses will last 21 hours, not 28 as planned. They will also be stretched over 3 days, not 4 (they will last 7 hours of classes per day, i.e. 7 times for 45 minutes).
Course topics will remain the same. Drivers are learning what they seem to have forgotten, which is how to drive safely. They also learn about the consequences of (among other things) their dangerous behavior on the roads. There will be a lot about alcohol, drugs and other intoxicants: how they affect the driver. Thematic block - traffic accidents and their consequences.
24 or 20 points
The courses will be attended by drivers who have exceeded the limit of 24 penalty points and thus have lost their driver’s license. In the case of young drivers with little experience (up to 1 year), this limit will be 20 penalty points. Points score after odds reset. Without a course, your eligibility will be forfeited and you will not be able to return it until you have completed the course.
The retraining courses will come into force at the beginning of 2023. According to Rzeczpospolita, the Minister for Digitization will announce his commitment in a communication at least three months before the changes are made.
